Project week 2017

Apprentices

October 15, 2017

From Widnau to Šluknov for a few days

Discovering common ground and new things: eleven apprentices travelled to the Czech Republic during the PLASTON project week. They visited the PLASTON plant in Šluknov and vibrant Prague. A report – and a big thank you to Roland Frei and his apprentice fund.

For PLASTON’s 60th anniversary, Honorary President Roland Frei topped up the apprentice fund he had founded ten years earlier. This made the trip to the Czech Republic possible for the apprentices.

The bus journey from Widnau to the Czech Republic was long, but the destination was worth it and the night in the hotel in Krásná Lípa was restful. The next day the visit to the PLASTON plant in Šluknov was on the programme: “Plant manager Maciej Pasiecznik gave us a very warm welcome and introduced us to the plant with an exciting presentation. We found it very interesting to see how PLASTON works in the Czech Republic and were amazed how much production in Šluknov has in common with the plant in Widnau – especially when it comes to the processes. We got to know the people in the office we deal with by e-mail every day. We met great, highly motivated and very friendly people.”

The same day, the apprentices travelled on to Prague – and from the hotel straight into the city centre by underground: “The city is very big and beautiful, the many sights make it even more beautiful, and the many shops that don’t exist in Switzerland make it even more interesting.”

After three days it was back to Switzerland, back to a workplace that was not quite the same after this trip: “We would like to thank Mr Frei very much for making the trip possible. It was a great time. We apprentices got to know each other better. A huge thank you also goes to Ms Schobel and Ms Landl, who came with us and looked after us.”
